Ve lo dice la vostra Regina!

Oggi la regina Elisabetta II ha letto, per la 64 esima volta, il “Queen’s Speech” davanti al Parlamento, illustrando il programma del suo primo ministro Cameron, che si trova alla testa di un governo interamente conservatore, ciò che non accadeva dal 1996.

Il testo completo del discorso, in inglese, lo potete leggere qui. Noi ci limitiamo a mettere in evidenza il passaggio cruciale – sono quattro righe ma pesantissime! – nel quale si annuncia che entro il 2017 si terrà un “in-out referendum” sull’appartenenza del Regno Unito all’Unione Europea.

La Regina ha così esordito:

“My Lords and Members of the House of Commons. My government will legislate in the interests of everyone in our country. It will adopt a one nation approach, helping working people get on, supporting aspiration, giving new opportunities to the most disadvantaged and bringing different parts of our country together.”

Dopo una lunga e complessa enunciazione programmatica Elisabetta II in due brevi frasi ha toccato il punto fondamentale.

My government will renegotiate the United Kingdom’s relationship with the European Union and pursue reform of the European Union for the benefit of all Member States. Alongside this, early legislation will be introduced to provide for an in-out referendum on membership of the European Union before the end of 2017.
